MTZ village board swears in new members

Mt. Zion Mayor Lucas Williams and Board Members Nathan Patrick and Randy Doty all being sworn in to office during the May Village Board meeting.

The Mt. Zion Village Board swore in their new board members Randy Doty and Nathan Patrick along with reappointed Mayor Lucas Williams on May 15.

Due to the elections in April Patrick and Doty both won their seats on the village board. Mayor Williams ran unopposed and won.

Along with the new board members and reappointment of the mayor, the board also approved new members to two different commissions. Mt. Zion Intermediate Principal Randy Thacker was appointed to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of appeals. His term will end in May 2027.

Melissa Hahn was voted into the Parks and Recreation committee. Her term will also end in May 2027.

Other actions at the Mt. Zion Village Board were:

-A presentation of the FY2022 Financial Statements by McGuire, Yuhas, Hoffman and Buckley.

-Amended chapter 50 when it comes Chapter 50 – Water in the code of Ordinance for the Village of Mt. Zion, Illinois.
