ALAH Girls Basketball visits State Farm Center
On February 22 the ALAH girls basketball team, including potential incoming Freshman, went to Champaign and watched the Senior night U of I womens basketball game at the State Farm Center. The local accounting firm McGuire, Yuhas, Huffman and Buckley, PC made the evening memorable by lining out a tour of Ubben, the U of I basketball practice facility, before the game as well as paying for admission for our group of nearly 30 student athletes to sit directly behind the team. With the help of AHS and U of I graduate, Kevin Huffman (of the accounting firm listed above) and Atwood-Hammond graduate, Kent Brown, Associate AD/Media Relations with the University of Illinois Athletics they were able to get us this behind the scenes, red carpet tour. Ubben was an unbelievable facility (one of the best in the Country, with mens and womens sides completely equal, and having the exact same offerings for both squads. Absolutely state of the art training and medical facilities, as well as nutrition services, coaches offices, saunas, video rooms, kitchens, and lounge spaces for the collegiate athletes. Coaches Mac Condill and Marissa Hershberger were thrilled to have this opportunity for these young female athletes and want to thank Kevin and Kent and all the other local fans for their support this past basketball season. We were very proud of the team’s effort and their 20-10 season ending with a great game against Paris in the Regional championship. Special thanks to the 3 seniors (Kaci Beachy, Kailee Otto, and Charley Condill) and their 77 wins during their high school career. Their hard work and determination follow in a long line of fantastic, strong young women who have truly left their mark on ALAH high school and ALAH girls athletics. CONGRATS!
