Five MTZ musicians earn All-State honors

Five Mt. Zion High School musicians earned a spot in the Illinois Music Education Association All-State festivals. Shannon Ahn, Ingrid Bakeman, Kaitlyn Crowley, Olivia Hawley, and Lydia Marion earned the designation of All-State Musician. Ingrid, Kaitlyn, and Olivia performed in the All-State Orchestra which was conducted by Dr. Sey Ahn. They performed La Forza Del Destino Overture by Giuseppe Verdi and the Finale from Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43 by Jean Sibelius.
Lydia performed in the Honors All-State Orchestra which was conducted by Maestro Jung-Ho Pak. The Honors Orchestra performed the Internet Symphony “Eroica” by Tan Dun, Promise of Living, from “The Tender Land” by Aaron Copland, and the Finale from Symphony No. 4 in F Minor by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky.
Shannon performed in the Honors All-State Band which was conducted by the renowned Dr. Paula Crider. The Honors Band performed Pacem by Robert Spittal, Burning the Wicker Man by Julie Giroux, Downey Overture by Oscar Navarro, Symphony #3 Quebec Mosiac: Mvt. 4 by Robert Buckley, and Semper Fidelis by John Phillip Sousa.
These talented musicians were five of over seven thousand Illinois students who auditioned for ILMEA programming this fall.
