EWERS AND LARSON BEMENT SPELLING BEE WINNERS. The Bement Grade School Spelling Bee was held Tuesday, January 31 as 19 students from 4th-8th grades qualified to compete. Seventh grade student Emmalyn Ewers was the champion spelling the word serum correctly in 19 rounds and sixth grader Emerson Larson received second place. Pictured are grade level winners Audrey Larson, 4th grade; Wyatt Swinger, 5th grade, Emerson Larson, 6th grade; Emmalyn Ewers, 7th grade; and Andrew Bregin, 8th grade. All five students advanced and will be competing at the Piatt County Spelling Bee to be held on Thursday, February 16 in Atwood. Moderator was Melissa Applebee and Jill Clodfelter served as judge.
