MADE WITH LOVE
MADE WITH LOVE. Bement 4th grade students in Jennifer Tavenner’s class completed reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio and learned all about the idea of kindness. During “World Kindness Week”, November 7-13, the class performed several mini projects including a kindness calendar and writing thank you letters to all the elementary staff members in the building. As a big community project the students brought in fabric to make tie blankets for all the residents of the Bement Nursing home. This project took one month to complete and during this time students had many discussions on why kindness matters. They also learned life skills including measuring, cutting fabric and teamwork but most importantly, they learned to show kindness to others. Pictured with their brand new blankets are (front row) residents Karen Kramer, Nancy Miller, Kenny Phipps, David Fuqua, and Roberta Miller.
