The Atwood Chamber of Commerce is trying something new for Santa and the Christmas holidays this year. The chamber, churches and other groups are working together to bring Christmas Dreamland At-the-Woods to the former Kirby Building, 108 S. Main, downtown Atwood. Dates will be Monday, December 5, Tuesday, December 6, Thursday, December 8 and Friday, December 9 from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. There is no admittance fee and you can visit more than once. Everyone, especially kids, is encouraged to wear their pajamas to Christmas Dreamland.
You will enter the back door of the building, and walk into a dreamland of each room filled with Christmas scenes from community churches and organizations including: Atwood Chamber, Atwood Christian Church, Atwood First Baptist Church, Lake Fork UCC, United Church of Atwood, A-H Library, Atwood American Legion & Auxiliary and Happy Birthday Ainsley. Each one will explain their display and someone from the library will be reading Christmas stories.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet you at the final room of the tour. Bring your list or whisper in Santa’s ear to let him know what you want for Christmas. Since the building will be renovated into the new Atwood Municipal Building in the new year, the chamber thought this would be a great time to make Christmas Dreamland.
The Forever Sister’s Kitchen Food Trailer will be at the site on Saturday morning ONLY so you can enjoy breakfast from 8-11 a.m. No food will be allowed in the building. Eat before or after, there will be time.
Santa is anxious to hear what you want for Christmas, get your list ready, Christmas is just around the corner.
