At the end of the third inning at the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes game the announcer directed everyone’s attention to the left field area and said,”Springfield Lucky Horseshoes’ pitcher Lucas Otto passed away on June 30. Lucas was from nearby Arthur and was in the midst of his second season in Springfield. Lucas was a beloved teammate, friend and son and was the light and joy of the Shoes’ Clubhouse. In honor and remembrance of Lucas his number jersey is being retired and no Springfield player will ever wear number thirty again.
