ARTHUR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESENTS HOMECOMING 2022!

ARTHUR LOVINGTON ATWOOD HAMMOND HIGH SCHOOL will be celebrating Homecoming 2022 on Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8

ORDER OF EVENTS FOR FRIDAY:

Homecoming Parade. There is no school on Friday because of a mandatory Regional Office of Education meeting for all faculty and staff so parade time is still to be determined but hopefully it will be close to the same time of 2 or 2:30. We will let everyone know as soon as the time has been decided.

Tour of school following parade. Meet in the FCC room (Home Ec room to most of you) after the parade for a tour of the school led by school administration.

Football game with Arcola at 7 p.m. on Wilson Field.

ORDER OF EVENTS FOR SATURDAY:

27th Annual Alumni Golf Outing. Kaskaskia Country Club. Tee off 10 a.m.; please arrive by 9 a.m. Open to alumni and spouses. $60 entry fee for nonmembers; $40 entry fee for members. Lunch included. Please pay by cash or check made to Kaskaskia Country Club on the day of the outing. For additional information contact Jason Yeakel at jason.yeakel@yahoo.com

Homecoming Banquet and Coronation. Enjoy a buffet style meal at 6 p.m. with fellow alumni in the west gymnasium at the high school. Catering will be provided by Yoder’s Kitchen. There will be a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. for a time to visit with classmates and friends and enjoy some light snacks before the meal and program begin. The alumni association would like to note that we do have a backup plan if for some reason we are unable to use the high school gym. (reservation information at the end of this email)

A special invitation is extended to the 25 year class of 1997 as well as the 50 year class of 1972. We actually have a unique opportunity as well to celebrate and honor those classes we were unable to recognize the last two years. We will have a short program to introduce not only the Classes of 1972 and 1997 but will also be introducing those in attendance from the Classes of 1970 and 1971.

The Homecoming dance is at 8 p.m. in the east gym with coronation at 9 p.m.

HONORARY ALUMNI

The Alumni Association is pleased to announce that long time teachers and coaches Val Cornwell and Dale Schuring will be honored this year at the banquet as Honorary Alumni, joining the ranks of many former teachers and townspeople who have been recognized in the past.

50/50 RAFFLE

Drawing will be held at the alumni banquet on Saturday. Money from this fundraiser helps defray the cost of the banquet, printing, decorations and other expenses of the alumni association. The last winner received over $850. Tickets are $5 each.

Send your name and phone number along with $5 for each ticket to the address listed below. Thank you very much for your support.

EMAIL ADDRESSES AND OTHER INFORMATION

Because of the cost of mailing we are no longer sending Homecoming information via USPS. If you haven’t already, please provide the alumni association with your email address by sending to arthuralums@icloud.com. Please include the year you graduated on any information as well. We will also do our best to get Homecoming and other pertinent information to alumni via the Arthur Graphic-Clarion, the Record Herald News and social media. There is an Arthur High School Alumni Facebook page. If you haven’t already, we ask that you become a member of that group.

CALENDARS AVAILABLE

Arthur will be celebrating our town’s 150th anniversary in 2023. With that in mind, the sesquicentennial committee has put together a calendar for the year with many historical photographs and dates. We hope to have those available at the Homecoming banquet and/or at events throughout Homecoming weekend.
