Belgian Draft Horse Expo

Close to 2,000 people attended the 2022 Belgian Draft Horse Expo that kicked off on Friday afternoon at the Steven and Levon Hostetler farm west of Arthur with demonstrations of the three-horse “unicorn” hitch, four-horse hitch and two-horse team class as well as a cart class. A benefit meal was held that evening for the Lester Gingerich family to help with medical expenses following a kidney transplant . On Saturday the expo moved to the Joseph Yoder farm south of Arthur with gelding unicorn, mare unicorn, halter classes, best shod horse competition, a six-horse hitch presentation and other events. Spectators from six states were in attendance and according to organizers this was the biggest event in the last six years. The expo alternates locations each year between Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois with next year’s expo being held in Pennsylvania.
