CRUSIN’ THE COUNTRYSIDE. A picture perfect day for the annual Amish Country Tractor Cruise held on Saturday, June 18 as riders went on a 46-mile picturesque drive through the Heart of Illinois Amish Country. They departed from Yoder’s Kitchen shortly after 8 am making two stops along the way. Cruise organizer Jim Fleming stated, “This was not the largest nor the smallest. Still, with the economy and fuel prices, we were very pleased with participation at 120 tractors. Our oldest driver was Jerry Kuhns of Arthur at 96 years of age and our youngest driver was Tucker Casteel of Lovington at 13 years of age. Thanks to Rudy and Linda Huber for hosting our break stop and to Vernon Yoder for hosting lunch. Meadowlark School prepared and served a delicious lunch.” Fleming started this event in 2010 and the proceeds go towards scholarships at the ALAH High School for students in FFA/Ag Education program.
