The Mt. Zion Splash Pad officially opened on Monday and was dedicated last week. The Splash Pad is located at Mt. Zion’s Fletcher Park.

The Splash Pad was originally part of Fletcher Park’s Master Plan that was developed in 2008. In 2013, Mt. Zion’s Village staff with the help of the Parks & Recreation Commission started fundraising for the project. Mt. Zion Village administrator Julie Miller said that the project was only possible because of the dedication and donations of many people and local businesses over the last nine years.

“It feels wonderful to have the Splash Pad open,” Miller said. “It is a great addition to the many recreation opportunities at Fletcher Park. It will be enjoyed by many children and their families for years to come.”

The hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily weather permitting. Miller and all of the village staff want the families and citizens of Mt. Zion to enjoy this addition to Fletcher Park.

Miller also wanted to thank all of the donors and laborers who made this all possible.

“I want to add a special thank you to Kyle Janvrin and Janvrin Plumbing,” Miller said. “Kyle and Janvrin Plumbing donated countless hours of their time and labor that saved Mt. Zion and its taxpayers a lot of money. Their assistance and expertise was crucial to finishing this project on time and under budget.”
