Knights softball season comes to an end

Freshman Mackenzie Condill slides into second base in ALAH’s Regional softball game vs Sullivan. Mackenzie would beat the tag and her hit drove in her sister Charley in the first inning to give the Knights a 1-0 lead after one.

ALAH stayed in it until the end, but Sullivan pulled away late in a 10-8 victory last Monday as the Knights hosted the Redskins in the first game of the regional.

Sullivan trailed 8-5 in the top of the sixth inning when Tab Webb homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring four runs.

Despite the loss, the Knights did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Sullivan had 12 hits on the way to victory.

ALAH got things started in the first inning when Mackenzie Condill doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

They put up five runs in the second inning led by Charley Condill, Mackenzie Condill, Alisha Frederick, Kailee Otto, and Kaci Beachy, all driving in runs in the frame.

Knights Alisha Frederick smacked one home run on the day in the fourth inning.

The Knights had 12 hits in the game with Condill, Beachy, Layla Deel, and Condill all having multiple hits. Charley Condill went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the team in hits. ALAH was sure handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Frederick had the most chances in the field with eight.

Maddie Schweighart took the loss for ALAH as the righthander surrendered ten runs on 12 hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.

The ALAH Knights softball finished the regular season playing four games, winning one and losing three

Cumberland bested the Knights in a high-scoring affair, 14-8 at Cumberland on Saturday, May 14.

ALAH struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Pirates, giving up 14 runs.

Cumberland took an early lead in the first inning when Jadalyn Sowers singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. They took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning.

The Knights scored five runs in the second inning. Charley Condill, Mackenzie Condill, and Alisha Frederick each had RBIs in the frame.

Maddie Schweighart toed the rubber for ALAH as the righthander went four and a third innings, allowing 14 runs on 19 hits and striking out two.

Junior Knights Alisha Frederick smacked one home run out in the second inning.

ALAH had 11 hits in the game with Frederick, Condill, and Kailee Otto each managing multiple hits. Frederick went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

ALAH smacks ten hits, lose to Sullivan

Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Saturday, May 14 in a high-scoring affair as Sullivan bested ALAH 15-7.

The Knights struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Sullivan, giving up 15 runs.

ALAH got on the board in the first inning when Alisha Frederick drove in one on a double.

In the third inning ALAH notched three runs as Ryli Kauffman, Frederick, and Maggie Benedict each had RBIs in the frame.

The Knights racked up ten hits on the day as Frederick and Mackenzie Condill all managed multiple hits. Condill and Frederick each managed two hits to lead the team.

In walk-off, ALAH loses to Central A&M

A walk-off left the Knights on the wrong end with a 13-10 defeat to Central A & M at home on May 13.

The game was tied at ten with Central A & M batting in the bottom of the seventh when Makenzie Smith homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs.

Charley Condill collected four hits in defeat as she singled in the first, third, and fourth, and doubled in the sixth.

The Raiders opened up scoring in the first inning when Jayne Damery doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs. Central A & M evened things up at ten in the bottom of the sixth inning when Carsyn Bugg singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Knights notched five runs in the fourth inning led by Layla Deel and Mackenzie Condill, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Ryli Kauffman took the loss for ALAH surrendering three runs on three hits over three and a third innings, striking out three.

Maddie Schweighart started the game for the Knights lasting three innings, allowing nine hits and ten runs while striking out five.

ALAH had 15 hits in the game with Condill, Alisha Frederick, and Deel each having multiple hits. Condill went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

Knights Schweighart shuts out Sullivan

Maddie Schweighart shut down Sullivan on Monday, May 9, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Knights to a 3-0 victory on the road.

The pitching was strong on both sides as Schweighart struck out nine and Maddy Probus sat down six for the Redskins.

Schweighart was the winning pitcher for ALAH surrendering zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Probus took the loss for Sullivan. The pitcher allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.

The Knights tallied six hits in the game with Alisha Frederick and Kaci Beachy all collecting multiple hits. Beachy and Frederick each managed two hits to lead the team. ALAH didn’t commit a single error in the field as Beachy had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
