ALAH Seventh Grade Girls are 2022 Sectional Champions!!!
Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Knights’ Seventh Grade Girls Win IESA Class 3A Sectional!! These girls are members of the ALAH seventh grade girls’ track and field team that captured the Sectional title on Saturday, May 14. The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond jr. high track and field teams competed in the IESA Class 3A Sectional Track and Field meet hosted by Shelbyville Moulton on Saturday, May 14.
The seventh grade girls’ team captured first place in the team standings with 98 points and qualified for the IESA State meet in seven events. Leighton Poulos was the standout in the meet taking firsts in the long jump, 100 meters and 200 meters and also ran the anchor leg of the winning 4 X 1 relay along with Cassidy Rohacs, Sophie Monts and Brooklynn Peeler. Cassidy Rohacs qualified by time in the 100 meter hurdles, Embrey Reardon won the 800 meters and Brynlee took first in the high jump and is the alternate for the relay.
Joining the seventh grade girls at State will be eighth graders Ruby Burton who won the 400 meters and Alex Clark who took first in the discus.
For the boys, the eighth grade 4 X 2 relay team of Justin Schrock, Easton Frederick, Daylon Doggett and Payton Warrior finished second in that race and qualified on time to earn their trip to State next weekend. Payton who also met the qualifying standard in the 200 meters will compete in that event also. The State meet will be next Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 at Eastside Center in East Peoria.
Following their State meet competition the Jr. High Knights track and field teams will have their awards night to celebrate this great season on Monday, May 23.
