ALAH Jr. High Track Girls Close Out Home Season with Sweep in Quadrangular
Riley Strode a seventh grader on the Knights’ jr. high track team goes over a hurdle in the home quadrangular meet on May 10. Riley’s time of 19.60 was good for second place in the event.
The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Jr. High girls’ track and field teams held their final home meet of the 2022 track and field season on Tuesday, May 10. The girls hosted Paris Mayo, Sullivan and Marshall in the meet. Both the seventh and eighth grade teams came out on top in the team standings.
Leighton Poulos was a triple event winner taking firsts in the long jump, 100 meters and 200 meters. Cassidy Rohacs had two wins in the high jump and 100 meter hurdles. Other event winners were Ashby Coblentz in the shot put; Sophia Johnson, the 400 meters; and Embrey
Reardon in the 800 meters. The seventh grade also had two victorious relays, the 4 X 1 team of Rohacs, Sophie Monts, Brooklyn Peeler, and Poulos and the 4 X 4 foursome of Johnson, Monts, Riley Strode and Rohacs.
The eighth grade girls had two double event winners, Alex Clark in the shot put and discus and Ruby Burton in the 400 and 800 meters. Their 4 X 4 relay of Grace Romine, Burton, Reece Oye and Skyler Graham also finished in first.
The girls were to compete in the Class 3A IESA Sectional on Saturday, May 14 at Shelbyville with the hopes of advancing some athletes to the IESA State Meet on May 20 and 21 in East Peoria.
The ALAH Jr. High track and field teams would like to thank everyone who helped at a home meet or came out to support them this season. You all had a hand in their success!!!
