ALAH Girls Run To 3rd At LPC Meet

The ALAH girls track and field traveled to Cerro Gordo HS on Monday, May 9 to compete in the Lincoln Prairie Conference Championships. The ladies did themselves proud compiling many top seasonal efforts to finish an excellent 3rd place in the team standings.

Leading the way again was Senior stalwart Alexa Miller. She wins both her specialty event, the Triple Jump (32’7.75”), and the 200 (27.70), while finishing 2nd in the 100 by .01 second (13.06). Both sprint times were season best for the team leader.

Emma Edwards continues to improve in the 300 Hurdles finishing 2nd with a PR of 53.87. Jewlyanna Hutchcraft just misses scoring in 7th at 59.36.

Teammates Makayla Harsbarger and Brooke Clark scored well in the throws in their final Conference Meet. Makayla goes 2nd in the Shot Put (31’4”) while Brooke throws her way to 3rd (30’1”). Both marks are season bests. Clark also picks up 2nd place points in the Discus with a 98’11” effort. Harsbarger is just out of the money in Discus in 9th (69’7.5”)

All the ladies’ relays contributed to the team effort led by a red ribbon effort by the 4×800 squad of Jewlyanna Hutchcraft, Sarah Rafferty, Emma Edwards, and Lindsay Rohacs (12:09.79). The 4×400 team of Edwards, Rafferty, Annika Beachy, and Kaitlyn Zander finish 5th in 5:01.

Beachy, Edwards, Rafferty, and Skyler Vorck take the stick around twice to finish 4th in the 4×200 in 2:04.07 while Zander, Vorck, Beachy and Miller sprint to 4th in the 4×100 with a time of 55.29.

200 – Kori Klay (34.4)

400 – Evanger Wiley (1:33.43)

1600 – Lindsay Rohacs (7:43.24) & Kayla Johnson 8:27.14).

100H – Lilian Edwards (25.35)

LJ – Skyler Vorck (12’2.5”) & Lilian Edwards (11’2”).

The girls compete for a place in the IHSA State Championship running the sectional qualifiers Thursday, May 12 at Sullivan HS.
