ALAH Alexa Miller Qualifies for State!

Knights’ senior Kaitlyn Zander, middle of the track, running in her last high school meet took first in her heat of at the 100 meter hurdles at the IHSA Sectional on May 12. Kaitlyn’s time of 20.23 just missed scoring in the event. Kaitlyn also ran legs on both the 4 X 1 and 4 X 2 relays.

The ALAH Lady Tracksters traveled to Sullivan HS on May 12 to run in the Sectional meet that determines IHSA State qualifiers.

The ladies scored 17 points to finish 11th as a team behind powerful squads from Shelbyville (1st), Tuscola (2nd), and LPC rival Okaw Valley (3rd).

Alexa Miller runs and jumps her way to score most of the ALAH points. Her highlight reel featured an all time PR of 33’11.5” in Triple Jump to secure her return to The Blue Oval at EIU. Her effort was good for 2nd place. Alexa also runs a credible 3rd in the 100 (13.25) behind the defending state champ.

The ladies other scoring efforts came from Emma Edwards (53.83PR/5th) in the 300 Hurdles and the 4×200 Relay squad of Edwards, Skyler Vorck, Kaitlyn Zander, and Sarah Rafferty (1:59.74/6th).

Highlighting the non scoring efforts was Kaitlyn Zander with a 1st place effort (20.23) in her heat of the 100 Hurdles.

SP – Makayla Harsbarger (31’4.75PR) & Brooke Clark (28’1”)

Discus – Clark (95’2”) & Harsbarger (79’1”)

LJ – Kori Klay (10’6.75”)

4X100 Relay – Zander, Edwards, Annika Beachy, Miller (54.79/7th).

Alexa Miller will be competing in the IHSA CCass 1A preliminaries on Thursday May 19th at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. This event will conclude what has been an outstanding career for the ALAH multi-sport standout.
