Seniors honored with Commitment Ceremony

These Seniors were honored with a Commitment Ceremony on Friday, May 6 at ALAH High School. They are all going to various colleges for a career in education. Seated at the table from left to right with their field of study and college are Katelyn Ahrendt, Spanish Ed with English Minor, Parkland College; Brook Frantz, History Education, Parkland College; Annika Beachy, Early Childhood Education, Lake Land College; McKayla Custer, Music Education, Eastern Illinois University; Melyne Sherwood, Music Education, Parkland College; and Kaitlyn Zander, English as a Second Language, Eastern Illinois University. Unable to attend were Brooke Clark, Early Childhood Education, Eastern Illinois University and Jordan Pratt, Secondary Science Teacher, Eastern Illinois University. As Principal Steffanie Seegmiller said when introducing the students, this is a great way to close Teacher Appreciation Week because “the ultimate compliment is when a student decides they want to become a teacher themselves.” Pictured behind the Seniors are members of the ALAH High School faculty and staff that are excited to see these students going into the field of education and look forward to them joining their profession.
