Knights baseball goes 1-4 last week

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond baseball team went 1-4 last week.
The Knights fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-2 loss to Okaw Valley Varsity Baseball 2021 Varsity on Friday. Okaw Valley Varsity Baseball 2021 Varsity scored on a single by Kadan Miller in the first inning, an error in the first inning, a single by Kolby Forlines in the first inning, and a single by Cale Roley in the second inning.
Okaw Valley Varsity Baseball 2021 Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Miller singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Tyson Montgomery was the winning pitcher for Okaw Valley Varsity Baseball 2021 Varsity. The righthander went seven innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out 11 and walking one.
Clay Seal took the loss for the Knights. The lefty allowed four hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.
Seal and Braden Kauffman each collected one hit to lead the Knights.
The Knights easily dispatched Villa Grove Blue Devils 16-1 on Monday
In the first inning, the Knights got their offense started when Maddix Stirrett singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Knights scored seven runs in the third inning. Hunter Grant, Clay Seal, Kody Kornewald, Casey Benedict, and Dalton Vanausdoll all drove in runs in the frame.
Seal got the win for the Knights. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out eight.
The Knights saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits in the game. Vanausdoll, Kornewald, Quentin Day, and Benedict each collected multiple hits for the Knights. Vanausdoll went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Knights in hits. The Knights didn’t commit a single error in the field.
Grant had nine chances in the field, the most on the team. The Knights stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Connor Nettles led the way with three.
The Knights watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-1 loss to St. Teresa Varsity Bulldogs on Tuesday. St. Teresa Varsity Bulldogs scored on a single by Guyse, a single by Matt Brummer, a single by Knapik, an error, and a single by Dickson in the second inning.
The Knights struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the St. Teresa Varsity Bulldogs, giving up nine runs.
Kody Kornewald took the loss for the Knights. The righthander allowed eight hits and eight runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights racked up five hits on the day. Connor Nettles and Dalton Vanausdoll all managed multiple hits for the Knights. Vanausdoll and Nettles each collected two hits to lead the Knights.
The Knights fall to 4-12 overall. This week the Knights will play Heritage and Arcola.
