ALAH Track Teams Excel at Tri County Invite on April 19

ALAH sophomore Landon Waldrop, far right, goes over a hurdle in the 110 meter hurdle race at the Tri-Co. Invite last Tuesday. He finished in third in the race in 17.24 seconds which was a PR for him.

The ALAH track teams filled the bus to Sullivan for the annual Tri County Invitational hosted by Sullivan High School. Ten boys and girls teams entered the competition.

The Knight’s men’s squad put on a dominant performance. They won every individual running event except the hurdle races. Their team total of 154 points easily outdistanced Shelbyville’s 115.

Leading the way again was Senior standout Max Allen. The speedster wins all 3 sprint events setting PR’s in the 100 (11.33) and 400 (51.05). His winning 200 time of 22.84 wins by over a second.

The distance group provided a healthy set of personal bests as well.

Lyle Adcock got the train rolling with a 10:30.24 PR in the 3200.

He was followed by Jake Adcock in 3rd at 10:48.98.

In the 800, Jace Green blasts a 6 second PR going 2:04.63 to win with teammate Jacob Duzan following in 4th with a PR of 2:07.88.

Logan Beckmier runs away with the 1600 in 4:40.14 to win by over 8 seconds. Duzan runs his first 1600 of the year finishing 3rd in a 4:56.67 PR.

Landon Waldrop has an excellent meet winning the Triple Jump (39’2.5”), long jumping to 2nd (19’6.25”) and hurdling to 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 300 (45.13) & 110H (17.24).

Austin Abercrombie scores 14 points in the throws with a 2nd and 3rd in Discus (131’8”) and Shot (39’5”).

Tanner Beckmier scores 4th in Discus (114’7”) while Jacob Tighe hits 7th in Shot at 36’10.25” PR.

Keaton Korando gets 7th in the 300 Hurdles in 50.34.

Mason Allen scores 8th in the 100 @ 12.40.

The men’s relays all scored well with the 4 x 800 team of Beckmier, Corona, Duzan and Green taking the blue ribbon.

The 4 x 100 group of Max Allen, Mason Allen, Carter Pratt and Keaton Korando placed 3rd as did the 4 x 200 team of Mason Allen, Pratt, Trey Wardrip and Gavin Mechling.

The 4 x 400 group of Korando, Mechling, Lyle Adcock and Green legged the stick to 3rd place.

Other non scorers for the men included long jumpers Garrett Casteel (15’) & Alex Rexroad (14’3.5”). Rexroad goes 31’4.75” in TJ. Casteel sprints the 200 in 27.12, while Ryan Appleby trots a 75.13/400 & clears the 110H in 21.13. Carter Pratt dashes the 100 in 12.78. Alex Rexroad runs the 300 hurdles in 58.8 just missing the last scored placement.

The Lady Knights had an excellent outing as well placing 4th in the team standings.

Alexa Miller again leads the way providing winning efforts for the girls taking the blue ribbon in the 100 (13.15) and Triple Jump (32’10.25”).

The Lady throwers scored well with Makayla Harsbarger winning the Shot Put with a PR of 30’7.5”. Brooke Clark throws 25’ for 7th while Sarah Rogers goes 24’6.25 for 10th.

In the Discus ring Clark throws 94’4” for 2nd with Harsbarger in 8th at 72’10”.

The Knight’s ladies were well represented in both hurdle events.

In the 100H, Kaitlyn Zander is 6th in 19.75 followed by Jewlyanna Hutchcraft/9th/22.02 & Emma Jones/10th/22.10. Emma Edwards leads the placings in the 300H going 4th/56.65 followed by Hutchcraft/6th/59.10 and Jones/11th/67.68. Lillian Edwards long jumps 10’6.75”.

The ladies’ relay squads scored 4th in the 4 x 200 with Emma Edwards, Hutchcraft, Zander and Sarah Rafferty carrying the baton in 2:04.26. The 4 x 400 team of E.Edwards, Hutchcraft, Zander and Rafferty paced the mile in 5:08.22 to finish 6th.
