James “Jim” E. Voltenburg
James “Jim” E. Voltenburg, 77, of Findlay, formerly of Arcola, died at 5:26 pm Friday, April 22, 2022, surrounded by his family at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago.
Jim was born July 3, l944 in Mt. Vernon the son of Everett Thomas and Noma Ethel Trotter Voltenburg. He was united in marriage to Joyce Carolyn Shaw on March 7, 1963, in Bourbon. Joyce preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2002. Jim married Mary McAchran on March 3, 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Findlay; son, Ed and his wife Joy of Sullivan; stepson, Paul McAchran Jr. and his wife Tamara of Strasburg. Also surviving are one grandson, Nickolas and wife Emily; step-grandchildren, David Cookson and wife Angela, Theresa Lutz and husband Alan, Tamara Cookson, Silas McAchran, Miriah McAchran and Solan McAchran; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Ivan Jess officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Jim was a graduate of the Arthur High School class of 1962. He worked as a postman for over twenty years; briefly operated a Schwann’s Food Delivery route; drove for Gingerich Trucking; and then retired while driving for McCloud Trucking. Jim also worked at the Embassy Lanes in Arcola.
He loved to play golf and was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Jim loved to farm and talk about tractors and farming. He was still helping his son, Ed, with the farm. Jim was a member of the Smyser Christian Church.
