Mt. Zion UMC initiating Love Your Neighbor for Mt. Zion school district residents
The Mt. Zion United Methodist Church will be initiating “Love Your Neighbor” for residents who live in the Mt. Zion School District. Church members will be showing God’s Love by performing various services for free on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. “We wish to help others by inspiring joy and hope,” says Pastor Rob Roy.
Our services include light yard work, replacing batteries in smoke alarms, blood pressure checks, delivery of food trays to our local police, sheriff, fire, library and others, delivery of 67 homemade cards to residents at Heritage Health, providing change and laundry detergent at Pride Cleaners & Launderers, and a continued collection of new socks for the homeless.
To make “Love Your Neighbor” a success, we need the community to sign up for these Free services:
1. Light Yard Work (blowing/raking leaves & debris pick up) – Saturday, April 29 between the hours of 9:00 – Noon.
2. Replace the batteries in your smoke alarms in your home – Saturday, April 29 from 9:00 – Noon. We will provide the batteries and install them!
3. Free blood pressure checks at Kenney’s Ace Hardware on Saturday, April 29 from 9:00 – Noon. (No need to pre-register)
“Love Your Neighbor” chairman Cheri Davis would like to encourage everyone to please call the church office at (217) 864-4813 Sunday – Thursday 8:30 to Noon or leave a message on the church answering machine. Please contact us by Wednesday, April 27 so we can set a tentative schedule.
And we’re not finished yet! Members of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church plan to have a celebration lunch on Sunday, May 1st from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. We want those that we helped to come and enjoy a FREE homemade meal prepared by our church members.
