ALAH baseball won three of five games last week

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond baseball team won three of its last five games last week.

The Knights fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-3 loss to Casey-Westfield Warriors (2021) Varsity on Saturday. Casey-Westfield Warriors (2021) Varsity scored on a double by Joe Short in the first inning, an error during Riley Gelb’s at bat in the first inning, and an error in the second inning.

In the first inning, Casey-Westfield Warriors (2021) Varsity got their offense started when Short doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Short was credited with the victory for Casey-Westfield Warriors (2021) Varsity. The righty lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out ten and walking zero. Maulding and Brayson Chrysler entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Chrysler recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Casey-Westfield Warriors (2021) Varsity.

Maddix Stirrett took the loss for Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights. The bulldog lasted one and one-third innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out two.

Braden Kauffman went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights in hits.

Casey-Westfield Warriors (2021) Varsity stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Gelb led the way with two.

Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights took the lead late and defeated Cumberland Pirates Varsity 11-9 on Friday. The game was tied at eight with Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights batting in the top of the seventh when Dalton Vanausdoll singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights had ten hits in the game. Vanausdoll, Maddix Stirrett, Casey Benedict, and Clay Seal all managed multiple hits for Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Varsity Knights. Seal, Benedict, Stirrett, and Vanausdoll each managed two hits to lead Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Varsity Knights.

Keyser went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cumberland Pirates Varsity in hits. Ty Bradley led Cumberland Pirates Varsity with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.

Against Blue Ridge, the Knights won 10-0. Against Paris, the Knights lost 15-4. This week the Knights will face Villa Grove. St. Teresa, OKAW Valley and Maroa-Forsyth.
