Cerro Gordo Bement Lady Broncos Runners Up at annual ALAH Invitational
Lady Broncos Take Runners Up at 15 Team Invite!! The Cerro Gordo Bement Lady Broncos brought home the Runner Up Trophy from the ALAH HS Invitational on Saturday, April 9. The girls scored 95 points to finish in second place behind Tuscola and ahead of nine other scoring teams in the meet. Standing: Haylei Simpson.Caroline Hill, Reese Brunner, Gabby Block. The CGB girls’ track and field team scored 95 points in the 49th ALAH HS Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, April 9. Tuscola won the girls division of the meet with 131 points.
Junior Jazzi Hicks brought home two first place medals winning the shot put with a toss of 33’ 10”and the discus with a throw of 108’. The Broncos also picked up first place finishes in the 400 meter and 3200 meter relays. The foursome of Bella Zigler, Haley Garrett, Haylei Simpson and Caroline Hill ran 54.46 in the 400 relay and Reese Brunner, Mariah Corpus, Ali Walker and Gabby Block ran 12:05.87 in the 3200 relay.
Other scorers for CGB were Haley Garrett, 400m (2nd), 1:08.39, long jump, (3rd), 16’, triple jump, (3rd), 30’ 9”; Bella Zigler, long jump, (2nd), 16’ 3”; these girls took fourth place in the following events: Reese Brunner, triple jump, 26’ 10”; Trinity Stroisch, high jump, 4’ 6”; Halei Simpson, 400m, 1:09.37; Marley Olson, 3200m, 18:03.82; and Caroline Hill was 5th in the 200, 29.12 and 6th in the 100, 14.09. The 1600 meter relay team of Simpson, Brunner, Hill and Block finished the scoring in the last event of the meet taking second place in a time of 4:42.59.
The rest of the girls’ participants and their results were: Bella Zigler, 100m, 14.37, 200m, 30.08; Mariah Corpus, 800m, 3:02.88, 1600m, 7:08.4; Trinity Stroisch, 800m, 3:25.22; Gabby Block, 1600m, 7:06.3 and Ali Walker, 300m hurdles, 1:02.91.
For the CGB boys, Dylan Howell was their highest finisher taking fourth place in the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:24.98. Mason Connour finished fifth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.70. Jariah Adams was the other individual scorer with a sixth place in the 400 meters in a time of 58.10. Tallying the last points for the Bronco boys were the 3200 meter relay, (5th), 10:34.56 and the 1600 meter relay, (6th), 4:09.4.
