ALAH Jr. High Track Girls Sweep Team Titles in Dual Meet with Arcola at Home

Skylar Graham hands the baton to Ruby Burton for the anchor leg of the eighth grade 4 X 4 relay in the home meet against Arcola. Leighton Poulos and Gracie Romine ran the first two legs of the relay that won with a time of 5:05.58. The eighth grade girls’ team took first in the team standings with 54 points to Arcola’s 35.

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Jr. High girls’ track and field teams won both the seventh and eighth grade divisions of the home track meet held on April 4 against Arcola.

For the eighth grade, Alex Clark continued her winning ways in the weight events taking firsts in both the shot and discus. Ruby Burton was also a double winner with firsts in the 800 and 1600 meter races. Skylar Graham also had a first in the 100 meters. The 800 and 1600 meter relay teams were also victorious.

Cassidy Rohacs was a double winner in the seventh grade finishing first in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meters. Emily Keagle also won two events, the shot put and discus. Other event winners for the seventh grade were Leighton Poulos in the high jump; Norma Mendoza, 100m; Embry Reardon, 1600m; Brooklyn Peeler, 400m; and Morgan Casteel, 800m. The seventh grade girls took first in all three relays and in twelve of the thirteen events contested in the meet.
