The Mt. Zion Village Board approved a business development agreement between the Village of Mt. Zion and AL Apartments and Afrim Allu on March 21. The agreement would result in a new restaurant.

The restaurant would be named Leonardos. The location would be at 910 N. State Highway 121. The location is where the old Solsa and Pizza Hut was located. AL Apartments and Allu are the current owners of the Four Star Family Restaurant. The restaurant will serve food, but that is undecided as well as beer and wine as part of its liquor license. There will also be 21+ gaming machines at the restaurant.

The agreement lays out the terms of a 50 percent reimbursement of BDD tax generated from the new business. The estimated eligible expenses are $313,000.

In other action, the board also approved a resolution authorizing execution of a service agreement with the lowest responsible bidder for the supply of electricity for residential and small retail customers who do not opt out of such a program. The Stone River Group will negotiate a price and make a recommendation to the village on which direction to take. Due to the nature of the process and the cost of electricity, changing prices could change.

Village Administrator Julie Miller gave an update on the old water tower. Sprint and T-Mobile removed their equipment off of it and now it is fully ready to be destroyed and taken out.

The Mt. Zion Village Board also approved:

-An action on a professional service agreement between the village and Clark Dietz, Inc.

-An action on an amendment to the Decatur Macon County Enterprise Zone Intergovernmental Agreement.

The Mt. Zion Village Board will meet next on April 18 at 5:15 p.m.
