Discussion Held by Atwood Village Board on Paving Two Blocks of Downtown Main Street

Ryan Staley of Farnsworth Engineering gave a presentation on re-surfacing the two blocks of downtown Main Street at the regular meeting of the Atwood Village Board on Monday, March 14. Staley talked to the board regarding procedures that needed to be done and answered any questions from the board. The board must follow all ADA procedures on the project. They will vote on whether or not to proceed with the paving at the April 25 meeting.

Bills paid amounted to $74,616.02

A discussion concerning the Village of Atwood water leak policy was tabled until more information can be obtained.

Sale of the former high school concession stand was discussed and tabled. The ordinance will be amended April 25.

Softener salt bid from Gunther was accepted at a cost of $133 per ton, delivered.

A village planning meeting will be held on Monday, April 4 at 5 p.m. to discussed what the board wants to accomplish in the next three years, and to assist with preparation for the next fiscal year budget.

The board approved the acceptance of donated dirt and Jeff Mercer will be in charge of where it goes and how much we get.

The cost and delivery of rock to residents is now $25 per bucket with stipulations.

The board approved the purchase of a high service pump for the sewer plant at a cost of $10,944.84.

Per request of the Atwood Chamber of Commerce, the village donated $2,000 to the Sesquicentennial event in 2023.

The Atwood Chamber of Commerce had requested the board agree to hold Village Halloween Trick or Treat Night on Sunday Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. Prior to trick or treat, the chamber will hold their annual parade and festivities at approximately 4 p.m. More information will be forthcoming as it gets closer to event time.

The board voted to direct Village Attorney Kenny Crossman to create an ordinance for petty traffic offenses. With this ordinance, the money will go to the village instead of state. However, this will depend on the type of ticket.

A resignation/retirement letter from Village Clerk Nancy Wierman was accepted. It will be effective July 1. The board accepted resumes until March 22. A replacement will be appointed at the April meeting and will be effective until the next election.

The next meeting will be on Monday, April 25 at 6 p.m. due to the end of the fiscal year.
