ALAH FFA members Ashley Seegmiller and Logan Beckmier are pictured here at the Section 17 FFA Proficiency Awards for their Area at Parkland College. Logan’s Area was Sheep Production and Ashley’s was Beef Production Entrepreneurship. They were interviewed by a panel of judges and had their record books evaluated. Both won their areas and moved on to the District 4 Proficiency Awards held at Mt. Zion High School on March 9. The same process of interviews and record book evaluation took place. Logan won his area and the accompanying press release has more details of his advancement to State.
Logan Beckmier was selected as the District FFA Proficiency Winner in Sheep Production.
Logan is a member of the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond FFA Chapter of the Illinois Association FFA.
Illinois FFA recognizes students in forty-seven different areas based on their work-based learning, also known as Supervised Agricultural Experiences or SAE.
FFA members who demonstrate outstanding agricultural skills and competencies through record keeping, leadership, and scholastic achievement may be considered for this award.
SAEs allow students to learn by either owning and operating an agricultural business, working or serving an internship at an agriculture-based business, or conducting an agriculture-based scientific experiment and reporting results.
Logan was selected as the District 4 Winner by a committee of agriculture industry representatives and teachers knowledgeable in this work-based area. Logan is the son of Tucker and Megan Beckmier from Atwood.
Receiving this honor now makes Logan eligible to compete in the State FFA Awards Selection process in Decatur on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
Logan was previously chosen as the Chapter and Section awardee in this area. Megan Beckmier is the agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School.
Logan will receive plaques for his accomplishments. These plaques are made possible by gifts by individuals, businesses, corporations and organizations through the Illinois Foundation FFA.
