MTZ track and field gets 11 top-three finishes at EIU

The Mt. Zion Track and Field program competed at the EiU High School Relays. The Braves compiled 11 top-three finishes throughout the program as the girls won the EIU HS Invite as a team and the boys’ team finished in third place. .
On the boys side, Christian Keyhea set a new personal record crossing the line at 6.99 seconds for a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash. I’m the 800 meters, Julian Baker finished with a time of two minutes and 57 seconds with a second-place finish and new personal record.
Baker went on to compete in the 3200 meters and set a personal record with a time of 10 minutes and one seconds for a second-place finish. In the pole vault, Kyle Hensley finished in first place with a jump of 4.25 meters.
On the girls side, Ashleigh Anderson set a new personal record with a time of two minutes and 22 seconds that resulted in a second-place finish in the 800 meter event. In the 3200 meter event, Emma Mallory finished in second-place with a time of 12 minutes and 24 seconds for a new personal record.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Lydia Trump finished in third-place with a time of 10.57 seconds. In the triple jump. Katie Janvrin finished in second place with a jump of 9.53 meters. In the high jump, Rhiannon Marshall won the event recording a jump of 1.52 meters.
In the 4×400 meter relay, the Braves’ team of Anderson, Sofia Munoz, Hillary Owens and Emma Crowley finished in first place with a time of four minutes and 19 seconds. In the 4×200 meter relay, the Braves’ team of Owens, Brooklyn Kondritz, Madison Inman and Angelina Henderson finished in third-place with a time of one minute and 57 seconds.
At the Mt. Zion Girls Indoor Invite, the Braves compiled 16 top-five finishes. In the 800 meters, Munoz finished in first-place with a personal record time of two minutes and 26 seconds.
At the 1600 meters, Anderson finished in first-place with a personal record time of five minutes and 29 seconds. Teammate Camille Mavis finished in third-place with a personal record time of five minutes and 53 seconds.
In the 3200 meters, teammates Renee Ballard and Hailey Betzer finished in third and fourth place. Ballard finished with a new personal record time of 12 minutes and 36 seconds. Betzer finished with a new personal record time of 13 minutes and three seconds.
In the 60-meter hurdles, teammates Lydia Trump and Lily Ford finished in second and fourth place. Trump finished with a time of 10.50 seconds for a new personal record. Ford finished with a time of 10.57 seconds for a new personal record.
In the 4×200 relay, the Braves’ team of Alaina Barr, Tatetum Flanagan, Olivia Kostenski and Raleigh Allen finished with a time of two minutes and two seconds for a third-place finish. In the 4×400 relay. The Braves’ team of Anderson, Munoz, Kondritz and Owens finished in first-place with a time of four minutes and 25 seconds.
In the 4×800 relay, the Braves’ team of Munoz, Mallory, Ellie Fritzche and Brooke Doyle finished in first place with a time of 10 minutes and 39 seconds. In the high jump, teammates Marshall and Hannah Sago finished in second and fourth place. Marshall finished with a jump of 1.47 meters and Sago finished with a jump of 1.42 meters.
In the pole vault, teammates Alexa Weter and Kondritz finished in first and third place. Weter finished in first-place with a jump of 3.13 meters for a new personal record. Kondritz finished with a jump of 3.00 meters. In the long jump, teammates Kostenski and Janvrin finished in third and fifth place. Kostenski finished with a personal record jump of 4.84 meters. Janvrin finished with a jump of 4.60 meters.
The Mt. Zion Track and Field Program will compete in the Mt. Zion Boys Indoor Invite and 2022 Apollo Boys and Girls Invite this week.
