Alexa Miller commits to Lake Land College

Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School is proud to announce that senior girls basketball student-athlete Alexa Miller will be committing to continue her athletic participation on the intercollegiate level at Lake Land College.

Located in Mattoon, Illinois, Lake Land is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and competes at the NJCAA Divsion II level. The Lady Lakers are led by Head Coach David Johnson. Coach Johnson is in his 24th season at Lake Land College. Under his direction, the

Lady Lakers have had numerous winning seasons, top 25 rankings, and average 21 wins per season. Most recently, the Lady Lakers took home the NJCAA DII National Championship in 2021.

Miller has been a four-year varsity letter winner in basketball and was an instrumental part of the Knights 25-6 campaign this season. She has been a multi-sport athlete throughout her high school career and has also earned varsity letters in track and soccer.

Alexa’s personal basketball accolades include: First Team LPC All-Conference as a junior and a freshman, and defensive MVP during her freshman, and sophomore seasons, and team MVP her junior season. Alexa has been playing basketball since she was a 6th grader and has played AAU basketball with the Central Illinois Panthers since 8th grade. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Miller is a member of the National Honor Society, has served as a freshman mentor for 1 year, and has worked in the writing center.

Alexa is the daughter of Sam and Lisa Miller of Cadwell and plans to earn an associate degree in graphic design.

In honor of Alexa’s accomplishment, Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School a signing was hosted on Tuesday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the gym at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School.
