Cerro Gordo Elementary students collected food for the Eleventh annual food drive. Social worker Shelley Frye and Elementary Principal Jodi Neaveill will be delivering twelve Holiday baskets to CGES families December 20th and 21st. The American Legion donated hams and Oakley Brick Church donated blankets and fresh fruit.
The preschool held a family engagement night on December 7th. Neveill thanks “Jenny Taylor, Mandi Isaac and Heather Skelley for their work in making the evening a success. Sixty-four parents/students were in attendance.”
On December 8th Principal Jeremy Rodebaugh attended the JHOC Meeting, and Sullivan Schools have been accepted as a new member.
Congratulations to the students of the month: Ty Carlson for High School, Mickey Tirpak for 8th grade, and Jack Hentz for 7th grade.
Rodebaugh congratulated the CGB High School Boys Basketball team, “Congratulations to the HS Boys Basketball team on playing in the championship game of the Macon County Tournament.”
The brick refacing project by Petry-Kuhne has been completed and the final payment was made. Superintendent Brett Robinson says the project was almost $7,000 under budget.
The roofing project is also almost complete. There is a new roof over the Ag shop building, part of the 2001 south addition, and minor repairs to the 1957 Junior High addition.
Cerro Gordo will be providing on site rapid testing beginning January as Kirby Medical Group ends their free rapid testing for schools. “The free school student/faculty COVID testing program provided by Kirby since October 2020 has saved countless lost school days, for which we cannot thank Kirby enough!.
