ALAH Cross Country team continues to receive honors

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School Boys Cross Country team was very well represented on the Champaign News Gazette All Area Team named last week.
Gathering first team honors for the second consecutive year was Junior standout Logan Beckmier. Logan was the #1 runner for the Knights all season long while winning IHSA Regional champion individual honors and securing a runnerup position at the IHSA Sectional meet. Logan went on to garner All – State Honors at the IHSA Championships finishing 13th to lead the team to the State 1A Runnerup trophy.
Jace Green completes his final cross country campaign by being named to the New Gazette’s All Area 2nd Team. Jace was steady throughout the season running to the teams #2 slot more often than not. His season highlight came at the state Championships running a career best while finishing just out of all state honors in 28th.
Jacob Adcock, Lyle Adcock, and Jacob Duzan were named N-G Area Area Honorable Mention athletes. The Adcock Brothers were in the Knight’s top 4 all season. Jacob improved drastically from his sophomore campaign securing medalist honors at both Regional and Sectional events while finishing 45th at state in a personal best. Lyle overcame an early season injury to progressively improve to a state top 50 runner finishing 47th also in a personal best. Jacob Duzan was a consistent #5 for the Knight’s. His season highlight was his huge personal best at the State Championship that secured the Runner-up Trophy for the ALAH harriers.
A week prior, the ALAH girls team was represented on the N-G All Area Ladies team by Junior leader, Emma Edwards. Emma was named to the Honorable Mention squad for her overall season that included her sectional qualifying efforts.
Besides the honors gathered by the ALAH runners, Boy’s and Girl’s coach Lyle Dorjahn, was named the Cross Country Coach of the Year by the New Gazette. This was the second consecutive COY honor from this publication for Dorjahn.
