Beware of Halloween, the “Fun” Goblins will Hit You Unaware

The Halloween goblins were out on Friday, Oct. 22, and a “work of art” was created to the Appleby home on Main Street, Atwood. Andy & Misty Appleby & family came home from the ballgame on Friday night to this delightful sight.

This was actually payback to the Appleby children who created a little “toilet paper artwork” at the home of Woody & Brittany White the weekend before. Woody is the pastor at the Atwood First Baptist Church.

This seems to be an ongoing “battle of toilet paper fun” with Appleby’s best friends from church. Since Pastor White is new at the church, it was initiation time for him and his wife. Appleby’s offered to help clean up the “mess” at his home, but he said first one is free.

There is normally payback when something like this is done. With the help of Mitch & Leslie Fleming and Keegan & Hannah Morfey, Pastor White and Brittany spent several hours decorating the Appleby home so they would have a gift when they returned home. The culprits were waiting on the family and yelled “Surprise.” The Appleby’s were unable to get in their front door and had to enter from the back.

The “battle of toilet paper fun” began in 2015 and has continued most years. That year is when the Appleby’s had a toilet hanging in their tree. It would have been difficult to have done this in 2020 with the shortage of toilet paper due to Covid-19. This fun keeps their creative juices flowing each year how to better the one before. Woody and crew were asked if they were going to help clean up and he responded “first ones free,” you have to clean it up, which Appleby’s did on Saturday.
