CGB Boys Cross Country Win Meet at Sullivan

Bronco runner Dylan Howell won the cross country meet at Sullivan last Tuesday with a time of 16:22. Someone watching Dylan run commented that he makes it look so easy, he just glides along!! Dylan led the way for the Bronco team as well with the team finishing in first place in the team standings with 37 points, ahead of ALAH, 48; Sullivan, 56 and Villa Grove, 69. Tri-County also had runners in the meet but not enough to score as a team.

The Cerro Gordo Bement Broncos boys cross country team competed in a five team meet at Sullivan’s Tabor Park on Tuesday, October 5. The Broncos won the meet with 37 points over second place ALAH, 48; Sullivan, 56; and Villa Grove, 69. Tri-County had runners in the meet but not enough for a team score.

CGB was led by Dylan Howell, 16:22, finished in first easily out pacing the second place runner by over a minute and forty seconds. Brody Somers took third overall with a time of 18:07.

Brayden Strack, 18:57 and Evan Fogerson, 19:18 were the next Broncos to cross the finish line in seventh and eighth place respectively. Brenden Puckett, 21:57 was the final scorer for CGB coming in at twenty-fourth but scoring 18 as other non-scoring runners came in before him. Camren Brown, 25th, 22:24, and Michael Freese, 27th, 23:07 rounded out the field for the boys’ team.

On the girls’ side only Villa Grove had enough runners to score so they took first place in the team standings. For CGB Gabby Block, 4th, 23:15 and Mariah Corpus, 5th, 23:15 came into the finish chute together as they usually do. Only an officials’ pick separated the two as their times were the same. Trinity Stroisch, 7th, 24:08 and Peyton Lents, 17th, 28:23 were the other Bronco runners for the girls.
