The 26th annual alumni golf outing was held on Saturday, October 9 at Kaskaskia Country Club. The golf outing is ‘for the kids’ as money raised goes to help support the athletic department and sports teams at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond schools. Organized by Jason Yeakel and Shelly Yoder Brough from AHS Class of 1991 and with the help of Tiffany Yeakel, Mattoon High School ‘94, and Matt McCarthy, AHS 2000, the outing consisted of 60 golfers comprising fifteen teams.
The day started with instructions given by Jason and Matt to the golfers and a prayer by Pastor Glen Rhodes of the Arthur Mennonite Church. A lunch of pulled pork was included in the day’s activities. Big thanks to the staff at Kaskaskia Country Club for all their hard work.
The top team with a final score of 13 under consisted of Mike Carroll, Wes Dukeman, Gage Elder and Glen Rhodes. Dave McGrath was closest to the pin at 6’ 10.” The longest putt was by Russ Brough at 24’ 1.”
The Alumni Association and Sports Boosters are very appreciative of those who have made sure that this golf outing continues and want to offer a big thank you to all involved and congratulate everyone for a successful outing.
