The Mt. Zion boys golf team finished second in their regional and the team will move on to Sectionals.

Weston Grohne led the Braves, golfing a 78. Senior Brent Hansen finished second on the Braves squad with a score of 83. Next came senior Jack Driscoll who golfed an 85. The team finished with a combined score of 335 that put then in second place.

“The course wasn’t easy,” Head coach Colby Burdick said. “Only two guys in the entire field broke 80. We did a pretty good job of hanging in there and continuing to battle.”

The Braves move on to the sectionals at Effingham which will be on October 4.

“Hopefully we’ll be motivated to play well at the Sectional because we want to make it to State,” Coach Burdick said. “We feel if we play how we are capable of, we have a very good chance of advancing.”
