CGB volleyball places fifth in Altamont tournament; JV Volleyball play in Knights’ Classic

On September 4, the Cerro Gordo Volleyball team placed fifth in the Altamont Tournament.
In pool play, the Broncos lost two straight sets to Armstrong. Haley Garrett recorded seven dogs and an ace while Lexus Lawhorn made seven assists.
Against Heritage the Broncos split the match 1-2. Lawhorn recorded one ace, 13 assists and a block. Addie Fritz recorded seven Kills.
The Broncos then dropped two sets to Altamont. Lawhorn recorded five aces and six assists and Haylei Simpson added three kills.
In Bracket Play, the Broncos started out strong against Nokomis. The Broncos won in two sets with Lawhorn leading the way with three digs, five aces and seven assists.
In the fifth-place game against Heritage, the Broncos won the match in two sets. Tieman recorded seven digs and three aces while Simpson recorded 12 assists.
On September 9, the Broncos defeated Tri-County in two sets. The first set was 25-16 and the second set was 25-18. Lawhorn earned player of the game with two aces and nine assists. Tieman recorded 13 dogs.
Ali Walker added seven kills and Fritz contributed five blocks.
Over the weekend, the Broncos went 2-1. Their defeat came to Arthur Christian School. Walker recorded an ace, two blocks and player of the game. In their win against LeRoy, Tieman recorded 14 digs. Walker was again player of the game with three aces and eight kills.
Cerro Gordo defeated Tri County in two sets on Friday. Lawhorn was player of the game with two aces and nine assists.
The Broncos record is 6-4-2. This week the Broncos will face Central A&M, LSA/Decatur Christian School, Arcola and Windsor.
