Piatt County Firefighter’s Association to Host 9/11 Memorial Parade on September 11

The Piatt County Firefighter’s Association is hosting a 9/11 Memorial Parade to commemorate the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001. With this ceremony, the Firefighters and First Responders are honored to be remembering the brave sacrifice of the 343 FDNY Firefighters, 60 NYC and Port Authority Officers and 8 EMT’s who gave their lives doing their job that day.

We are also honored to remember the brave passengers of Flight 93 and the military personnel at the Pentagon. We are blessed to live in a country of people who take care of each other. This is what these brave heroes did that fateful day. The 2,977 victims of this attack hold a special place in the hearts of all First Responders.

The parade will start in Bement at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 11. The parade will move through towns in Piatt County. The route will be as follows: Bement (start), Atwood, Hammond, Cerro Gordo, Cisco, Weldon, Deland, Mansfield, White Heath, ending in Monticello at the high school.

There will be a conclusion ceremony at the Monticello High School football field at 12 noon.

The Piatt County Firefighters Association encompasses 12 fire departments for a total of 219 active members. Please join them in honoring the sacrifice of the victims of 9/11.
