Broncos drop season opener to Bulldogs

The Cerro Gordo Bement Broncos traveled south over three hours to Harrisburg on Friday evening to take on the Bulldogs at Taylor Field as the 2021 football season got underway.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Broncos fumbled, which was recovered by Cole Riggs at the Bulldogs’ 26-yard line, from there Bulldog Ross Rider scored from 13 yards out.

In the second quarter, Broncos quarterback Collin Warren plunged his way in from one-yard out as Cerro Gordo Bement cut the deficit to eight at 14-6.

But from there, it was all Harrisburg as the Bulldogs closed out the first half on a 4th-and-sixth from 32 yards out and took a 20-6 lead in the locker room.

In the second half, it was all Harrisburg as they scored two more touchdowns and defeated the Broncos 34-6.
