The Atwood American Legion has named a committee to begin work of planning the veteran Memorial to be placed in Rajah Memorial Park.

Ken Caraway, Commander of Post 770 has named six people to the committee.

Representing the Legion are Howard Kamm and Jim McCollum. Representing the Legion Auxiliary are Jessie Yoder and Bev Obert. John Brandenberg and Gary Appleby are representing the Sons of the American Legion.

The purpose of the committee is to plan, finance, implement and improve the Veterans Memorial. The committee has met two times to discuss the project.

A preliminary layout of the memorial was reviewed. Veteran bricks purchase by members of the community will be installed at the memorial.

The memorial will be anchored by an American Flag and a concrete pad. It is the plan of the committee to include benches, sculpture and other related items to the memorial as funds come available.

The Legion and the committee will be sponsoring a 50/50 raffle during the Apple Dumpling festival to raise funds for the memorial.

Anyone wishing to donate to the memorial should contact a member of the committee or any Legion member.
