Mt. Zion, IL – The annual Mt. Zion Community Ice Cream Social will be a little different this year. The event is usually held at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church parking lot outside with music, children’s games, food, ice cream and dessert and inside is the annual silent auction with over 25 baskets.
Last year, the event was canceled due to COVID and this year it was not known what the standards would be so it was decided to not cancel the event but to change it. The purpose of this event is to raise needed funds for individuals or families with catastrophic medical bills.
All committee members from the four local churches decided it was so important to help those in need even if it was going to be different. This year, tickets are being sold for a drive through dinner prepared by Nelson’s Catering. In keeping with the traditional Ice Cream Social menu, this deliciously prepared meal will offer the same. Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwiches, Texas Baked Beans, Cheesy Potatoes, Vanilla Ice Cream provided by Wal-Mart and a Homemade Brownie. This whole meal is only $10.00!
To purchase tickets call any of our 4 participating local churches and they will make arrangements to get the tickets to you. Antioch Christian Church (217) 864-3444, Our Lady of Holy Spirit Catholic Church (217) 864-3467, Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church (217) 864-2528 and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church (217) 864-4813.
Those with tickets are to come to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at 1220 West Main Street to pick up their meals on Thursday, June 10 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Just drive through, show your tickets and you will receive your hot meal and cold ice cream.
This annual fundraiser helps those with extreme medical needs in the Mt. Zion Community. Your support is greatly appreciated!
