FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES UPGRADE

The Family and Consumer Science Department at Bement High School received a much needed upgrade thanks to Kirby Foundation. Angie Corum, Family and Consumer Science Teacher, reached out to the foundation in an effort to replace their current car seats that they use for their infant simulation project. The current car seats that were being utilized for the project by students do not meet today’s safety standards and expired in the early 2000’s. Thanks to a donation from the Kirby Foundation, the department was able to purchase 4 new car seats to replace the outdated models. Students who participate in the infant simulator project review the basic needs of an infant before caring for the “infant” for a weekend. “I feel extremely grateful that the Kirby Foundation has given us these resources that will benefit our programs for years to come.”said Angie Corum.
