After a week of rain and cooler weather, Saturday, March 27 dawned with bright sun and warmer weather for a fun Easter parade with a special guest, the Easter Bunny. Now there may not have been a lot of bonnets with frills on top, but there were children along the parade route and a large crowd downtown Atwood where the parade stopped to distribute Easter treat bags to all the children pre-K-4th grade.
The event was hosted by the Atwood Fire Department and the Atwood Chamber of Commerce. The chamber provided the treat bags and two Easter baskets and the Atwood Firefighters contributed 10 large golden eggs, each filled with money.
Congratulations to all the winners: Iris Caldwell, Reese Wierman, Paityn Wierman, Kyson Travis, Cash Bergfeld, Audrey Bolsen, Atticus Thompson, Tobias Thompson, Harper Ard and Andi Miller.
Thank you to the fire department for their work getting all the equipment ready for the parade; Atwood Police Chief Rob Bross for his participation; to our Miss ALAH Emma Lee and Jr. Miss ALAH Molly Appleby for being in our parade and handing out the treat bags to all the kids; Scott Harris for escorting our queens in their 1965 Ford Mustang; Roger Harris for use of his golf cart; and to all the chamber members who volunteered their time filling treat bags and assisting with this event.
A special thank you to all the parents and kids who came to see the Easter Bunny and enjoy the parade. We appreciate the Easter Bunny taking his time to stop in Atwood for a visit on Saturday.
