By Doris Elmore
Staff Writer

The Rajah Committee met last week and voted to hire Chuck Campbell of Amity Landscaping Group of Arcola to begin work on the first phase of Rajah Park. This phase will be to work with the committee to lay the brick pavers around the Tug Wilson historical marker, the walkway to the Veteran’s Memorial area of the park and to construct a parking area and sidewalk along Magnolia Street.

The committee is excited for this phase to begin. The goal is to have it completed by August 14 and have dedication of this part during the Apple Dumpling Festival August 20 & 21. Watch for more information and updates from time to time. At some point, we will be seeking volunteers to help with this phase. If you are interested in helping, please notify Marsha Burgener at the A-H Public Library.

Marsha is now taking orders for the second ordering of Rajah Park bricks. If you are interested in buying a brick with your name, sport, etc., and have it installed by Aug. 14 (or before), please contact Marsha no later than Saturday, May 1. Cost is 4×8: $50; 8×8: $75. Order forms are available at the library or e-mail the library at https://www.ahlibrary.com To date there are 325 bricks for Rajah Park. Bricks for class years are still needed.

Be a part of this important piece of Rajah history. If you haven’t already ordered your brick, do it today.
