Plank’s Buzzer Beater moves ALAH Boys to 6-1 overall, 5-0 in the LPC
The Knights traveled to Arcola on Monday and came away with a thrilling 74-71 victory over the Purple Riders. Austin Plank’s half-court shot as time expired was the margin of victory. All eight players scored in the game.
ALAH trailed at the end of the first quarter 12-16. Holding Arcola to only 11 points in the second quarter, the Knights added 18 points and took a 30-27 halftime lead. Both teams scored 23 and 21 points in the third and fourth quarters, but it was Plank’s buzzer beater that propelled the Knights win.
Sophomore Kaden Feagin led the Knights with 19 points; Jack Martin had 15 points all in the second half and Austin Plank added 13 points to lead the Knights. Also scoring for ALAH was Jamison Rocke, 9 points; Trey Wardrip, 7 points; Wyatt Romine, 6 points; Reggie Edmonds, 3 points; and Wyatt Hilligoss with 2 points. Romine hauled down 10 rebounds and Rocke had 10 assists on the night.
The Knights picked up a pair of victories Wednesday night on the road at Tri-County.
ALAH led at halftime 30-27 as both teams added just ten points in the third quarter, but it was the Knights seventeen points to the Titans seven points in the final quarter that led to a final score 57-44.
Jamison Rocke led all Knights scorers with 18 points and Wyatt Romine added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Other ALAH scoring came from Kaden Feagin, 8 points; Wyatt Hilligoss, 6 points; Jack Martin, 4 points; Austin Plank, 3 points; and Reggie Edmonds and Trey Wardrip each with 2 points.
The JV team won their first game on the season by a score of 40-35.
The final road game of the week was on Thursday evening as the Knights traveled to Broadlands where they split a pair of contests. The Varsity picked up their fifth straight win and their fourth straight Lincoln Prairie Conference win defeating Villa Grove/Heritage by a score of 64-41.
Leading by four at the end of the first quarter 14-10, ALAH had an explosive 21-point second quarter leading 35-18 at the break and never looked back.
The Knights were led by senior Jamison Rocke’s 20 points on 9 of 10 from the field. Wyatt Romine added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomores Kaden Feagin and Wyatt Hilligoss each contributed 12 points along with seniors Jack Martin and Austin Plank both with 3 points.
The JV Knights lost to Villa Grove/Heritage.
Back home on Friday night the Knights hosted Sangamon Valley winning their sixth straight game 64-28 and fourth game of the week. All Knights available saw action, with nine scoring points and three in double figures.
Leading 16-7 at the end of the first, the Knights were up 34-15 at halftime. Controlling the third quarter with 23 points, they stretched their lead 57-23 and added another 7 points in the fourth to win handily over the Storm.
Kaden Feagin and Austin Plank led the team in scoring with 12 apiece. Jamison Rocke had an impressive stat line of 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Senior Wyatt Romine hauled in 10 rebounds and 4 points on the night. Also scoring was Reggie Edmonds with 8 points; Wyatt Hilligoss, 6 points; Jack Martin, 5 points; Austin Abercrombie, 4 points; and Trey Wardrip finished with 3 points.
The JV Knights picked up their second victory of the week, winning 37-25.
