The Bement Board of Education began its annual Bement High School Hall of Fame Award in 1991, with the naming of Sereno Bodman and Gary Gallagher as it first members. Since its inception, fifty-nine Bement High School graduates have been named to the Hall of Fame.
Each year as many as two BHS graduates are selected to be honored. To qualify for membership a graduate or honorary alumnus must have achieved outstanding success in his or her career field, and/or contributed significantly to his or her community.
The Bement Community Unit School District 5 accepts written nominations at 201 S. Champaign St., Bement, IL, 61813, through March 31 of each year. Written nominations should include the nominee’s name, year of graduation, significant contributions, and available contact information. Nomination forms are available in the high school office or may be found on the district website. All nominations must be received by March 31, 2021.
All nominations are reviewed in the spring and the honorees are announced in May. They are recognized and receive their award at the homecoming football game in the fall.
