Illinois State Police Investigates Fatal Traffic Crash

ISP INVESTIGATES FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   Interstate 72 westbound at Milepost 164, just west of Monticello, Piatt County.

WHEN:                      Dec. 3, 2020 9:45 P.M.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- Red 1999 Chevrolet Suburban

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – A 42-year-old male from Decatur, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. (Awaiting notification of next of kin)

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling west on Interstate 72 near Milepost 164 in Piatt County.  Unit 1 ran off the roadway to the left, traveled through the median and overturned.  Unit 1 came to rest upside down in the median. The driver of unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
