Sparrows Unlimited To Hold Annual Auction Online Due To COVID-19

Sparrows Unlimited is a non-profit organization that was started to help families in Lovington who were in need of a hand up during Christmas. Each year the organization holds an auction, however this year instead of being an event to attend in person it will be held online.

According to Pam Anklam, president of Sparrows Unlimited they gather items from businesses and people in the community to sell during the auction. This year’s online auction will be held as an event on Facebook where people make bids by commenting a price under the photos of each item. The highest bid will win the item.

Bidding for the online auction began on November 30 at 5:00 pm. Proceeds from the auction will go to help over 100 kids this Christmas. Anklam said that they provide children with outfits, boots, toys, coats, hats and gloves at Christmas and they go off of each individual child’s wish list.

According to Anklam they also act as a resource and support system for many organizations in Lovington such as Christ’s Pantry, Lovington American Legion Post #429 and school organizations. “Whatever is needed Sparrows is there,” she said.

To access the online auction you can visit www.facebook.com/sparrowsunlimited and look for the event called Sparrow’s Unlimited Christmas For The Kids Online Auction. They ask that you respond to the event as interested or going so that you can view auction items and make bids.
