Bement’s Fuson wins cross country meet
Bement middle school hosted a home cross country meet on September 29 with Cerro Gordo, Central A&M, Decatur Catholic, and LSA invited.
Bement 7th grader Will Fuson won the boys race with a time of 11:54. Brayden Strack came in 3rd at 12:20 followed by John Paul Brewer, Cliff Strack, Brody Somers, Tyce Alumbaugh finishing 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th with times of 12:33, 12:37, 13:06, and 13:12 respectively. Placing 14th and 15th with times of 14:10 and 14:16 was Joe Schum and Kole Somers and Collin Kendall finished 23rd at 15:57.
Bronco Caleb Weaver took 4th place with a time of12:30, Mark Aubert placed 16th at 14:24, and Ian Hawk, Michael Freese, Eli Corpus, and Jack Hentz finished 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th respectively with times of 16:05, 16:09, 16:11, and 16:34.
Bement won the meet with 22 points followed by Decatur Catholic with 48 points for 2nd place and Cerro Gordo took 3rd place with 82 points.
Cerro Gordo runner Jillian Durbin finished in 5th place at 14:51, Mariah Corpus placed 7th with a time of 15:35, and Jazlyn Howell with a time of 15:56 finished in 10th place.
Addie Roberts placed 12 at 16:43 followed by Cassie Block placing 15th with a time of 18:27.
Decatur Catholic won the meet with 15 points.
