ALAH Boys 1st- Girls 2nd at Cross Country Conference Championships

Okaw Valley High School hosted the annual Lincoln Prairie Conference Cross Country Championships at Bethany’s Crowder Park on Friday October 2.

Running on another wonderful fall evening, the ALAH Knights cross country squad had another eventful meet.

The boys put on another dominating performance scoring a meet low of 19 points. They outdistanced 2nd place Okaw Valley by 54 points with Cumberland another 17 points back in 3rd. Layton Hall again led the Knight harriers to the victory while touring the 3 mile course in 15:39. This was Layton’s third consecutive conference title. Logan Beckmier goes across the finish shute in 2nd with Lyle Adcock 3rd running 16:32 and 17:15 respectively. This was sophomore Beckmier’s second consecutive silver medal conference effort. Jace Green runs to 5th place and Jacob Adcock runs 8th with them travelling the distance in 17:24 and 17:39. Jacob Duzan and Jesus Corona finish for the Knights in 13th and 21st with excellent efforts of 18:02 and 19:13.

Hall, Beckmier, Green, and both Adcocks receive All Conference recognition for their efforts. After winning their first ever conference title a year ago, the Knights follow up with an even more impressive repeat.

The Lady Knights traveled to Bethany with their sights set on the championship trophy. That in itself is a small miracle as ALAH had never sent anything resembling a full squad to these championships. Running strong with multiple personal bests, the ladies in red put a scare into the powerful Cumberland squad but fell just 10 points short of the conference title.

Charlie Condill paced the lady harriers with a monster PR of 21:00 to finish 2nd to Cumberland’s outstanding senior, Jasmyn Dittamore. Charlie ran down 4 runners in the last ¾ mile to receive the silver medal. Alisha Frederick is the 2nd Lady Knight to finish. Running an outstanding personal best of 21:57, she finishes 8th overall. Both Condill and Frederick receive All Conference recognition for their efforts. The Knights next two thru the shute were Emma Edwards and Sarah Rafferty. They go 12 and 13th overall in 22:32 and 22:33 respectively with Rafferty establishing a new PR. Makenzie Brown goes 15 in 23:00 and Mackenzi Bowles is 23rd with a huge PR of almost 2 minutes running 24:58.9.
