Knight’s Cross Country Sweeps at The Patch

The ALAH Knights hosted their annual event at The Great Pumpkin Patch on Friday, September 25.

This event also served to honor 3 Senior runners on the ALAH squad. Both girls and boys toured a 3 mile course that wound around the fields of GGP. ALAH girls and boys each won their respective races in dominant fashion.

Schools competing included Okaw Valley, Cerro Gordo, Bement, as well as newcomers Sullivan and Iroquois West who made the long trip down I-57 from Gilman. The ladies kicked off the evening festivities at 5:00pm on a spectacular evening with clear skies and comfortable seasonal temperatures.

Senior Layton Hall put on a show for the large crowd of spectators in attendance. Hall toured the course in a facility record of 15:13. His dominant win comes in his last race at the Knight’s “home course”. His finish placed him 1 minute ahead of Iroquois West own standout senior Connor Price. Price and his close buddy Logan Beckmier ran stride for stride almost the entire race with Beckmier falling behind in the last ¼ mile. Lyle Adcock continues to be a strong #3 for the Knights finishing 20 seconds behind Beckmier going 4th overall. Jace Green and Jacob Adcock finish a second apart while running 6th and 7th overall.

Jacob Duzan and Jesus Corona both provided top 20 finishes for the Knights placing 14th and 20th respectively. Brothers Connor and Reggie Edmonds completed the Knight’s scoring in 26th and 27th place.

The Lady Knights continued their season of close pack racing while dominating their distaff counterparts. After leading the Knights pack for 2 miles, Charlie Condill broke away to finish 2nd overall in a near personal best of 21:44.

Alisha Frederick continues her improvement during her rookie campaign running a PR of 22:07 to finish 3rd overall.

Emma Edwards leads a trio of our ladies in placing 5th with Senior Makenzie Brown and Sarah Rafferty close behind in 6th and 7th. Senior Mackenzi Bowles finishes the Lady Knights scoring while running her 2nd fastest time of the season while finishing 15th.

The Running Knights next race is the Lincoln Prairie Conference Championships at Bethany’s Crowder Park Friday October 2nd. The ladies hit the line at 4:00pm followed by the men at 4:45pm. Please make the short trip across Moultrie County to cheer on the state’s 7th ranked boys team and the ever improving girls as they compete for the conference crown!
